Established on 4th September, 1962 on the bank of mighty river Brahmaputra and surrounded by lots of holy places, the North Gauhati College started it's journey as a coeducational Arts college. Later in the year 1978, the science stream was introduced adding more distinctness and flavour to it's existence. Since then it has continued its journey of moulding human resources to have impact on the society all around, just proving itself to be an effective learning and education centre. Well qualified and efficient teachers along with the cooperative non teaching staff, the college starves hardest to fulfill the dreams of students, stakeholders and the people of greater North Guwahati and around.
With NEP 2020 implementation, the college would definitely look into achieving variety of goals like increase in enrollment, proper academic atmosphere, overall development of student fraternity, running of skill based & vocational courses, infrastructure, employability, social responsibility etc.
The four storied building granted by Assam government followed by planned beautification of the campus is one step towards it. We hope to witness it as a Center of Excellence in a short time to prove a point around the state and nation. Cooperation from all angles like local people and bodies, alumni, industries and corporate houses, stakeholders etc would surely turn this endeavor into success and the college would stand high as a well notched academic and learning institute.
