General course in Education was introduced in the year 1965. Thaneswar Boro, who later became state Education Minister, was a founder teacher of the department. The department is equipped with facilities like Library, Psychological Practical Laboratory and Computer with internet access. Seminar on varied topics, group discussions, personality development programmes, additional tutorial classes, educational excursions, field trips and co-curricular activities are held regularly in the department. The departmental wall magazine Poohar, takes active role in initiating dialogues on emerging issues concerning Education as a whole.
