The Department of Botany was started in the year 1979 with the establishment of Science Stream in the College. Dr. Nolin Chandra Borah was the founder Head of the Department. The Degree Course (B.Sc.) was begun in the year 1987. The department is well-equipped with necessary apparatus prescribed in the Regular and Honours syllabus by the Gauhati University. Besides the regular teaching in the college the students participate in field trips arranged by the department. The students and teachers of the department contribute regularly to publish the wall magazine Dubori.
